Splitting Time

Evyn Lacy and Bruce Reyes will be counted on to play big roles at the varsity level in the near future for both the baseball and football teams.

For now, both are enjoying their time on the diamond as Spring brings about better weather. Both the JV and Sophomore baseball squads are enjoying two-game winning streaks.

They'll meet Atascosita at home on Friday, April 3rd.

Mr. Moulton Undefeated Heading to State

The Beaumont Enterprise did a fine story about Gerald Mouton's triumph over circumstances. Click here to see it.

The State Tournament 2/22/08
West Brook senior Gerald Moulton made short work of his first opponent at the University Interscholastic League wrestling state tournament, when he pinned Jimmy Allen of Canyon Randall in 1 minute 45 seconds.

Moulton, undefeated in his first 35 matches this season, lost 3-2 against Marcus McGraw of Arlington Bowie, who beat Moulton at the state tournament last year.

He then beat Chazz Dillon of Ellison with a 30-second pin in an evening match that moved Moulton within three victories of becoming the the first Southeast Texan to finish as high as third place in a UIL state wrestling meet.

World Gym Makes Donation to Bruin Team

Jody Nolan, the owner of World Gyms in Beaumont met with Coach Craig Stump and Coach Chad Johnson on Tuesday, January 30th in order to offer his support to the ongoing success of the football program.

Mr. Nolan recently donated a set of dumbbells, ranging from 5 to 125 lbs. to advance the offseason weight training program. Coach Stump is very enthused about the opportunity to partner with World Gym.

On a different topic, Mr. Nolan is a partner in the distribution of the new Rambo movie. He encourages all Bruins to go see it.

Football Banquet Sends Seniors Out in Style

West Brook's Football team threw out all the stops Wednesday evening for the annual Bruin Football Banquet. Players and their families were treated to the wisdom and insight of Judge Layne Walker, a West Brook Graduate who played on the '82 State Championship Team. Coach Stump wants to thank Judge Walker for making time to share with the Bruins.

Freshman B Team Awards went to Jonas Rayson, Kyle Coker and Zach Hollier. The Freshman A Team Awards were: Offensive MVP: Bruce Reyes, Defensive MVP: Evyn Lacy, Special Teams MVP: John Titus and Bruin Heart Award: Colin Garrett.

Rodrek "Jack" Jackson, DeQuane Bennett and Taylor Barros were recognized from the JV team. Here, Jack and DeQuane flash their high-wattage smiles.

Only the best looking Varsity Team Members were asked to sit in the front row.

Coach Stump apologizes to Judge Layne Walker for a particularly vicious hit during their playing days.

Coach Jeff Nelson was quite an offensive player during his days as a Texas Aggie.

Smiles all around as Coach Johnson recognizes David Falgout as Defensive and Academic MVP.

Offensive MVP, Christine Michael

Mr. Falgout is pictured here as he begins to run out of pockets to carry all his awards. Congratulations to David for his academic achievements, as well as his sports accomplishments.

Special Teams MVP: Jordan Garrett (The Great Numero Quatro) and Bruin Heart Award Winner: Josh Smart

Darryl Coleman is beloved in the Athletic Program for having (to quote Judge Layne Walker) "a servant's heart".

Team Captains Leighton Zeno, Mike Williams, Albert Williams, David Falgout and Josh Powdrill display the District Championship Trophy.

Judge Walker addressed Albert Williams' ability and noted that he had made a lasting impression on Walker's two sons.
